I first saw this buck around the middle of October. He was 80yds away and there was only 5-10 minutes of legal shooting hours so it was hard to tell how good of buck he was, but I knew he had to be pretty good. A week or so later I saw him again in the same spot as the first time. I had somewhat of a pattern on him, now it was just a matter of time and a little luck. I hunted him really hard for the next couple of weeks. The first firearms season came and went I thought he might still be alive. The guys that gun hunted this land took some pot shots at a "nice tall buck". These guys weren't hunting the second weekend so I had the land all to myself. Sunday, Nov 14 at 4:30 pm he finally gave me the opportunity I was waiting for. He came down the trail at 13yds. I stopped him broadside with a grunt, released, made a good hit. After a 15 minute tracking job, I found my buck expired in the trees.
